Different Fertility Treatments For Men And Women

Health & Medical Blog

Infertility is a battle that nobody wants to take on, and yet so many couples are forced to each year. If you are trying to have a baby, you may be considering a variety of options. Whether you are a man or a woman, infertility treatment is available to you. In many cases, those who once struggled with fertility are able to go on and conceive a child. With medical treatment, it may be possible for you to do the same.

Men's Infertility Treatments

For men, there are often lifestyle changes they can make to regain healthy sperm. For instance, some men struggle to achieve an erection, for which there may be a medication available. Additionally, some men find that stopping certain medications and ceasing to smoke (cigarettes and marijuana) helps to solve the problem. For some men, regular exercise is the key. Speaking to a doctor about these potential lifestyle changes is a wise idea.

Surgery is not very common as a treatment for infertility in men, but it is an option in some cases. Some men have a blockage of sperm that prevents healthy sperm from exiting the body through ejaculation. In other cases, there is damage to the reproductive organs that a surgeon can address.

Sperm retrieval is another common method of allowing fertility. This is especially useful in cases where men are unable to ejaculate during sexual intercourse.

Women's Infertility Treatments

Women also experience infertility for a variety of reasons, but many are biological, whereas many of men's causes are due to lifestyle factors. For women, the processes of treating infertility may be more invasive for this reason.

Fertility drugs are a common resource for couples who need help with fertility. These medications can stimulate ovulation when it does not happen automatically. While they come with some risks, your doctor can assess whether you are a good candidate.

With intrauterine insemination, healthy sperm are placed directly into the uterus when a female is ovulating. In successful instances, fertilization occurs.

Surgery also may be the right treatment for you. The surgeon can remove polyps, scar tissue, or a uterine septum that may be preventing natural fertilization.

It is true that many of these treatments come with real risks, and there is no one-size-fits-all category for this type of issue. For this reason, it is important to speak with your doctor about possible fertility options for your case, which is unique compared to others. Making Changes With Vision Therapy

When my daughter began having academic problems in school and acting out, I knew that something wasn’t right. Her teachers wanted me to put her on ADD medications, but I didn’t think that that was the right course for us. I had serious doubts that ADD was what was causing her problems. I took her to several different specialists before discovering that her issues in school were actually do to a visual processing problem. The doctor recommended vision therapy, not medication, to help correct the problem and get her back on track. The exercises are really starting to pay off, and she’s showing great improvement.
